Solemn dreary Saturday evening
watching the winter trees motion
swaying and dancing but empty and
bare
when out of nowhere came the notion
The tree like me, continues to live
Even though it's empty and has
nothing to give
Maybe this is all there is
Watching the sun as she slowly sets
knowing that time she never forgets
Up high the angels place their bets
a penny for your thoughts
a nickel for regrets
a thousand dimes of remittance
Couldn’t pay off my debts
If I ever knew what happiness was
I'm sure you were there
If I ever felt what true love does
I'm sure you did it
If longing was teardrops
And desire was dew
I’d be drowning in longing
and desire for you
If your grief was a breeze
and the winds were your sorrow
I’d keep you warm
With the hope of tomorrow
The winds can't blow everyday
They have to stop for a while
and then the sun will come out and
play
In the corners of your smile
